Night at the Ritz Presents “An Evening of Bluegrass” featuring the Chuck Nation Band performing the choral arrangement of High Lonesome Mass in concert with the Truett McConnell University Choir, Dr. Ken Gabrielse, & Dr. Tim Sharp .
The Chuck Nation Band, from Gainesville, GA, near Atlanta, made their Carnegie Hall debut performance in New York City in 2015, where they received a standing ovation and encore. In 2016 they performed in concert at the historic Ryman Auditorium in Nashville, TN. They were 2016 Georgia Music Awards nominees for Americana/Bluegrass artist of the year. Chuck is a member of the Atlanta Country Music Hall of Fame, a two-time Georgia State Fiddle Champion, Georgia State Mandolin Champion and a Louisiana State Fiddle Champion. The band toured internationally to Ireland in 2012 and 2014, and in 2017 they traveled to China and Inner Mongolia for two weeks of performances at the IFCM International Folk Song Festival and International Silk Road Festival.
Chuck was a member of the historic band from Louisville, Kentucky—The Bluegrass Alliance (whose alumni includes Vince Gill, Sam Bush, & Tony Rice)—which paved the way for the modern “Newgrass” music style. Besides being an in-demand studio musician for others, Chuck has recorded 2 solo projects: Fiddle Favorites and One Man Band.
Close harmony singing and superb instrumental playing are the hallmarks of their distinctive sound.
The concert is sponsored by Truett McConnell University.
